During the postpartum period, women can think and feel many different things . . . love, exhaustion, loneliness, bliss, hormonal. Sometimes, we can even think of scary thoughts postpartum. I’ve been there and seen many new moms go through the ups and downs. Women think this time with their baby will be filled with continuous happiness and joy. It is, but sometimes . . . it’s not. It can be pretty alarming for those who have experienced the downs and scary thoughts, and the mom guilt can build up and set in.

I enjoyed chatting with Dr. Jane Shomof, a licensed marriage and family therapist, in this episode. She specializes in postpartum support and owns Bloome, a mobile and virtual business that provides peripartum support to mothers from their third trimester through postpartum. She continues to help so many mothers, and she has given us some incredible advice on how to normalize and minimize those scary thoughts postpartum. We hope this episode helps mamas out there!
