At Bella Vie we have lots of love for the Combi Coccoro. It’s hard not to love such a cute little car seat but we don’t base it on looks alone. At 15.5 inches wide it can help make some of the most challenging three across situations possible. It’s suitable for even teeny tiny babies from birth and is wonderfully portable making it an ideal travel seat.
Travel
The safest way for a baby to travel on an airplane is in a car seat. Everything on an airplane is stowed and restrained except a lap baby. It the event of a hard stop or turbulence baby can go flying and be injured or can be crushed by the person holding him or her. Checking a car seat on an airplane either at the counter or at the gate means that your child’s seat is out of your sight and control and may be damaged without your knowledge compromising its ability to protect your child in an accident. If you choose to check your seat and it does not make it to your destination, you will be left scrambling looking for a safe solution for transporting your child. Purchasing a ticket for your baby is the best way to protect your child and their car seat.
The Coccoro fits beautifully in an airplane seat rear facing as well as forward facing.
It attaches easily to many strollers making it easy to transport through the airport. It is important to note that I did not place my son in the Coccoro when it was on the stroller, I only used it to carry luggage.
The easy to use lockoff for use in the rear facing position makes installing in foreign cars without locking seat belts a snap. The seat also has built in lockoffs for forward facing that are equally simple to use. These features make this seat ideal for international travel.
Recently my family traveled overseas for vacation with my two year old son in tow. The airline required that my son’s child restraint be installed in the forward facing position. Since my son is two I was okay with him forward facing for the flight. I was able to install the Coccoro very quickly with a nice recline that allowed him to sleep well on the flight. We were able to attach the Coccoro to our stroller and use the Coccoro/stroller combo to haul all of our carryon baggage through the airport whilst I wore my son on my back in a carrier.
This set up made travel though the airport as painless as it could possibly be with a two year old in tow. The Coccoro is extremely lightweight so carrying it on and off the airplane as well as through to baggage claim to collect the stroller was a snap even with 27 pounds of toddler on my back.
When we arrived at our destination, the Coccoro easily installed in the rear facing position in the van that took us to our flat. As I had anticipated, the van did not have locking seatbelts or LATCH/ISOFIX so the included specially designed locking clip was necessary for a proper installation.
This locking clip is much easier to use than a conventional locking clip, which leaves less room for error. It’s best to familiarize yourself with different install methods so that you’re well prepared to quickly install the seat for an overtired or cranky child.
The Coccoro features Combi’s Tru-Safe® Side Impact Protection (EPS) and their Tru-Safe® Buckle. This buckle is a puzzle buckle meaning that the two tongues have to be fitted together before they can be snapped in to the buckle. There are four harness height positions, the highest being 15 inches high. The harness adjuster is a smooth, single pull to tighten. The Coccoro may be tethered in the rear facing position and a d-ring to create a tether point is included with the seat. It comes in six fun colors.
Downsides
As we all know, there is no perfect car seat out there. The Coccoro does have some downsides. It is a small seat that is outgrown by many children before they’re ready to move on to the next step. We like to see children rear face for as long as possible as it is the safest way to travel. With a 36 inch (or one inch of shell over the child’s head) and 33 pound rear facing limit, this seat will get many but not all children to two years of age rear facing but not much farther. My two year old still fits rear facing but does not have much growing room.
The limits for forward facing are 40 inches and 40 pounds or if the child’s shoulders pass the top harness slots. This does not get many children to booster maturity. The Coccoro really is a niche seat, it will not be the only car seat your child ever needs. The newest manuals state that the infant insert is required for all babies and toddlers until they are 25 pounds.
The child pictured here is 21 lbs and 20 months and he has outgrown the seat by height with the infant insert in place. This is now his little brother’s seat.
Special thanks to Combi for providing a Coccoro for review and for giveaway.

I love this seat for its travel-ability and compact fit, plus it’s just CUTE, and want one to use as a second seat with upcoming baby from birth!
We would love the Coccoro to fit three across in my husbands Kia Soul!
I have wanted a Coccoro for forever!! Such a nifty little seat.
I would love to try it out because our 2 1/2 month old is growing so fast and he’ll be out of his infant car seat way before his older brother (23 months) has outgrown his! So we will be needing a convertible seat to keep our baby rear facing!!!
I’d love to try this out for travel–it’s so lightweight!
I LOVE the Coccoro! I got to help install 4 of them for a family of new quads. They fit perfectly in their Ford Windstar van (the only 3 across that would work). I would love to have one of my own 🙂
Maybe, just maybe, with this seat I could fit three across in my husband’s car.
I love the Coccoro!!! I would love to have one for our second daughter!
I would love to receive this car seat for my fast growing daughter!! She’s only 3 months but growing so fast, I don’t see how she’ll make it to a year in her infant seat. This would be a great solution for me.
I LOVED our Combi. we had to replace it after a car accident and it just wasnt practical to get another one since my daughter was on her way of growing out of it. i would love one for our new baby on the way!
This is one of the only car seats on the market that will fit in my tiny back seat!!
The Combi would fit wonderfully in my tiny car!
Love the Combi Coccoro. One of my favorite seats to use.
The Cocorro is the cutest seat out there! The colors are my favorite part about the seat. This is a great seat for those parents who want to skip the infant seat!!
I would love to win!
I have seen this seat in action and it super cute and looks comfortable for the one riding in it!
This is such a cute little seat. We have a new baby coming in October and this would be a perfect seat for her.
I am in love with the coccoro car seat it would be a wonderful seat for my 13 pound 10 month old so much nicer than the cheap Graco seat we could afford to buy her
I would love to have this car seat for my next baby!!!
My baby HATES the infant seat and this would be perfect for our 3 across.
I would love this, because this might be my solution for a 3 across scenario. Plus, I have heard great things about it, and the colors are gorgeous!
I’d love this seat, because it fits newborns and is slim for a 3 across. The Coccoro is also so adorable.
I’d love to have a small, portable car seat for my youngest!
This would be an awesome seat to have for my little guy or for when I haul my nephew around.
for some reason the comment box entry came up for me today even though I did it yesterday. 🙂 So, you can ignore this one.
I’ve always wanted to try the Coccoro. It would be a perfect seat to use in Grandma’s car to fit 3 kids across.
i would love to win because i love the coccoro carseat
I would love to try out the coccoro for my 2month old daughter!
I would LOVE to win this seat, my kids were too old/big to think about purchasing it when it first came out but now we’re expecting another baby and this is the #1 seat on my wish list!
I would love to try this out because it looks comfortable for even the tiniest of babies!! I love the design!
Looks like a great seat!
I would love to try the seat b/c I am having a hard time figuring out which one will work best with our family and car. I am a huge reseacher and just keep coming across the same reviews from parents who “missuse” install the seats not for safety but for convenience for them.
The locking clip only goes on the shoulder portion of the strap? That does look easy!
I’m bummed that I missed this giveaway! But I’m so curious… how did you attach the seat to your City Mini? We have one and I’m thinking about getting the Coccoro once my DS is out of his Keyfit. Thanks!
